Help AV Weather the Storm, Pick-Up Rescheduled

Here’s the latest from Ian:

Hey Friends,

Due to the storm and now the evacuation order for Red Hook, we are not holding the CSA tomorrow. Distribution will be Tuesday evening from 3:30pm – 7:30pm.

In terms of support for us: We will be weatherizing the office tomorrow from 10am – noon and could use 2-3 people to help with that. Additionally we anticipate a significant cleanup of the farm following the storm and will need volunteers Tuesday anytime 9am-7:30pm.

Thanks to each of you for your incredible dedication to this big beautiful community.

-Ian and the whole AV team

If you would like to volunteer either tomorrow at the AV office or Tuesday at the farm, please just show up and pitch in.

The Farm vs. Hurricane Irene

If you’re planning to volunteer on the Farm tomorrow — or just want to know what we can all do to help them prepare for Hurricane Irene — more details will be coming out this afternoon.

The Farm plans to make a call about tomorrow by 2 p.m. today. Watch this space — or your email — for more information about pickup, volunteering and more.

Preparedness and Zucchini Bread

Fellow CSA members, by now you know that a hurricane is coming this weekend, and we all live in evacuation zone A. There will be wind and rain, maybe some damage, but we can prepare.

Make a plan, pack a go bag, gather emergency supplies, maybe find a place to stay in Sunset Park.

One more thing you need to do: make this zucchini bread. It’s quick and tasty, it lasts a long time, and it’s way more useful (and relaxing) than trying to tape all of your windows.

Stay safe, Red Hook.
